About 1 hr drive away are the spectacular
Jenolan Caves. Nine show caves are open for public
inspection with guided tours at regular intervals.
At 340 million years old, scientists
now believe these incredible limestone caves are the
oldest open caves of their type in the world. To put
it into context, the Blue Mountains began to form
100 million years ago; dinosaurs became extinct 65
million years ago, and Tasmania was joined to the
mainland as recently as 10,000 years ago.
Over 10 kilometres of bushwalking trails
take you to many of the above ground spectacles the
2164 hectare wildlife reserve has to offer.
